Dr. Muhammad Khurshid got his PhD degree in Environmental Sciences with a PG Diploma in Disasters Preparedness and Management from University of Peshawar, Pakistan in the session 2013-2017. Presently, he is working as an independent Research and Development Consultant with different national and international organizations in Pakistan. Over the past few years, he has successfully managed and completed many consultancy-based projects focusing on environmental and social safeguards, disaster risk assessments and management, climate change adaptation and resilience, CSOs capacity needs assessments, community development, and the capacity building of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
Prior to his consultant role, he was engaged as Assistant Professor (Full time) at department of Environmental Sciences, The University of Haripur Pakistan (2018-2020). In addition, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) awarded him a prestigious research fellowship (2216-Research Fellowship for International Researchers). Within this fellowship, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Department of Geography, Ankara University Turkey from June 2016 to June 2017. During 2011-2015, I was engaged as Research Associate with Foundation for Research and Socio-Ecological Harmony (FRESH), Pakistan and worked on a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) funded project “Landless Pastoralists Research Project” in northern Pakistan.
He has over 10 years of progressive research experience in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region of northern Pakistan where he has primarily focused on Natural Resources Management (NRM), with an emphasis on socio-ecological systems, pastoralism, pastoral land governance, sustainable land management, and climate change mitigation and adaptation by rural communities. On these topics he has published many research articles in well reputed national and international journals.
