Discussions about Field Studies
Hello dear Participants of P-001,
I have created this new topic with a purpose of discussing the field studies required to conduct the Case Study work as outlined in the SPECIAL MODULE.
While we can discuss various ideas, queries and clarifications in this group, I am to request all of you to read the guidance given in the SPECIAL MODULE. Only after that, please give your SUGGESTIONS whether we should add one last step after submission of Written Case Study report. And, that step may be the PRESENTATION of each Case Study submitted by each student. Is it possible? Just 3 slides: 1) Topic & Location with map); 2) Objectives & Methodology; 3) Core Findings (not elaborate Results) with Conclusion. Each student is given 3-5 minutes for presentation on Zoom session. We can prepare a list of presentees and put on the platform. Such presentations can be scheduled between 9 January and 18 January 2025.
Please write suggestions precisely and do not deviate from the contexts. Please also do not discuss other topics in this group, just not confuse others.

1) Portugal, 2) Sérgio António Neves Lousada, and 3) Pastoralism and Land-Use Challenges in Madeira Island, Portugal.
Good morning colleauges, dear Dr. Hasrat,
when I read field data collection above, I would propose to have a small research question integrated which you follow up in the context of the location, Pasture or Rangeland Management system in place, land use patterns and in the specific cultural, ecolocial and socio-economic environment.
It should have a clear structure (summary, introduction and context, justification of a research question, methodology applied, data analysis and results, findings, conclusion, like a small research paper.
Or should it be only a case study discrbing the situation and the challenges and write recommondations?
Could you provide us kindly with some more information, how many pages, what scops and how deep the studends should go into this research?
Thank you in advance,
Ute

Dr. Arjjumend, I would like to raise the issue of timelines with regards to the data collection exercise. I foresee some challenges especially as we are heading to festive season whereby some key informants (government officials, etc.) may be out of station and the local communities may be involved in different festivities / celebrations with regards to their seasonal calendar. In case such challenges would occur, affecting data collection would there be an extension for submission of final report?
Thanks.

Logical and genuine reasons. Should we discuss during the Zoom session, 9 Dec.?
Case study topic:
Country: Kenya
Name: Dr. Armara M Galwab
Topic: Local solutions to r Dr. Galwab ; when I look at the topic, I am thinking it sounds better if you say, " Local Solutions to resource-based conflicts in Marsabit County, Kenya". You may also need to clarify the conflicting parties i.e.; Pastoralists to Pastoralists or Cultivators - Pastoralists......... Just my thoughts.
